The Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors will square off against the Charlotte S Stampede at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Metrolina Christian Academy comes in on four and Charlotte S on six.
On Thursday, Metrolina Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Hickory Grove Christian, taking the game 8-5.
Jacob Seamon and Landon Nichols did most of the damage at the plate: Seamon got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs, while Nichols went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Nichols a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Pierce, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Charlotte S). They were the clear victors by a 15-9 margin over Raleigh HomeSchool on Monday.
Timothy Wenger made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elijah Darwin, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He also put up two hits, which were his first of the season. Bowen Macy was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Metrolina Christian Academy pushed their record up to 21-1 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Charlotte S, their win bumped their record up to 14-12.
Metrolina Christian Academy took their victory against Charlotte S when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 12-3 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Stampede have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
