Softball Game Preview: Batesburg-Leesville Panthers vs. Strom Thurmond Rebels

Batesburg-Leesville is 2-8 against Strom Thurmond since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Batesburg-Leesville Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Strom Thurmond Rebels at 7:00 p.m. The game will give Batesburg-Leesville their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.

Batesburg-Leesville gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Ridge Spring-Monetta by a score of 9-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Khloe Hildebrand was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Claire McCleskey, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Hildebrand wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Batesburg-Leesville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Strom Thurmond made easy work of Greenwood on Monday and carried off a 19-1 win. Considering the Rebels have won five matchups by more than 11 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Lawsyn Lowe, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Addyson Harrison was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Batesburg-Leesville's victory bumped their record up to 2-0-1. As for Strom Thurmond, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Batesburg-Leesville might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Strom Thurmond in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Batesburg-Leesville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
