             Poly Prep Country Day had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  squad sidled past the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks  2-1. The  win was some much needed relief for the Blue Devils as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season.
 The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Poly Prep Country Day who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-27,  25-21.
 Despite the  loss, Desert Oasis had strong showings from  Zoe De Zarlo, who  had nine  digs, and  Riana Morales Imura, who  had five  digs.
 Desert Oasis has  been struggling recently as they've  lost nine of their last ten contests,  which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record  this season.
 Poly Prep Country Day will be playing in front of their home fans against Jay  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Desert Oasis, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  game,  a  2-0  victory vs. Rancho on the 21st.
