Baseball Game Preview: Village Tech Viper Squid vs. Madison Trojans

Village Tech is a perfect 4-0 against Madison since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Viper Squid will look to defend their home field against the Trojans at 5:00 p.m. One thing working in Village Tech's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.

Village Tech took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Keene get on the board and left with a 16-0 win.

Angel Ontiveros was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Carter Gray was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew Sotelo, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Village Tech was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Madison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 11-7 to Trinity Leadership.

Village Tech's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Madison, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Village Tech took their win against Madison in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. Do the Viper Squid have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
