It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Gardendale had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Athens Golden Eagles, sneaking past 9-7. For the Rockets, this counts as revenge for the 9-4 win the Golden Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2025.

Gardendale is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Athens, their defeat dropped their record down to 27-20-1.

Gardendale wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 4-1 loss against Wetumpka on the 18th. As for Athens, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 13-3 defeat against Helena on the 18th.
