Volleyball Recap: Surry Central Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Presley Smith and Kenzie Hooker + How To Watch

Surry Central lost against East Surry on September 11th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cardinals. While the Golden Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cardinals 25-21 in the first set.

Surry Central started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-15, 25-16, 26-24.

Surry Central's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kenzie Hooker, who had 20 digs, four aces, and one block, and Presley Smith, who had 15 digs, 11 kills, two aces, and one block. Smith is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 37 games she's played dating back to last season.

Surry Central's loss ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for East Surry, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Surry Central will venture away from home to square off against East Wilkes at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Surry, they will head out to face off against North Surry at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
