Volleyball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Boerne-Champion

Boerne-Champion had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Alamo Heights Mules. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Chargers have posted since September 9th.

Boerne-Champion got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-14, 25-21, 31-33, 15-9.

Cassidy Breuer paced Boerne-Champion's offense, picking up 28 kills. Breuer got some help from Brady Cooksey and her 71 assists. Finally, Taylor Fenton kept Boerne-Champion's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Alamo Heights' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Leah Espinoza, who had 18 digs and six assists, and Charlie Voss, who had 19 kills and 11 digs. Voss is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 15 games she's played.

Boerne-Champion's win bumped their record up to 24-5. As for Alamo Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-19.

Coincidentally, Boerne-Champion and Alamo Heights will both be playing Boerne the next time they take the court. The Chargers will head out to face the Greyhounds at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Mules will host them at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
