Softball Recap: Sugar Valley Rural Find Success

Sugar Valley Rural made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Phoenix were the clear victors by a 20-12 margin over the Rams on Monday. Considering the Phoenix's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Lyla Breon was a standout: she scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those six stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayleigh Showers, who scored two runs and stole five bases while going 3-for-4.

Sugar Valley Rural kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia Montour Vo-Tech only managed nine hits.
