Preview: Unity Christian Academy Phoenix vs. Universal Stars

Unity Christian Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Universal Stars at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Unity Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Universal likes a good challenge.

Unity Christian Academy can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent game on Monday. Everything went their way against Grace Christian Academy as Unity Christian Academy made off with a 80-60 victory. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Unity Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenyun Mazique led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Mazique also posted eight assists for the first time this season. Donovan O'Neil was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with six assists and two steals.

Meanwhile, Universal's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Monday after their fifth straight loss. They were the victim of a tough 60-40 loss at the hands of Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Universal has suffered since November 22, 2023.

Unity Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-6. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 25.33 points. As for Universal, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.

Unity Christian Academy came up short against Universal in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 61-57. Can Unity Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
