Soccer Game Preview: Lake Forest vs. Lake Zurich

The Lake Forest Scouts will face off against the Lake Zurich Bears at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Lake Forest headed into their last contest having not scored more than one goal for five straight, but Zion-Benton let them put that streak behind them. The Scouts blew past the Zee-Bees 6-1 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for Lake Forest as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Lake Zurich won against Glenbrook South on Friday with one goal and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Saturday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Bears who were credited with the victory. Lake Zurich got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Prospect's one. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Lake Zurich's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 30th, while Prospect are ranked 122nd).

Lake Zurich's one-goal win came courtesy of Cammy Niepomnik, who's now up to five this season.

Lake Forest's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Lake Zurich, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-1-2 record this season.
