Recap: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Melbourne Central Catholic Hustlers

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Edgewood, the Cocoa Beach Minutemen were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 34-27 win over Melbourne Central Catholic. That's another feather in the cap for Cocoa Beach, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.

Melbourne Central Catholic's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jailyn Como, who scored eight points, and Ari Teeter who scored seven points along with four steals. Teeter scored a full 25.9% of Melbourne Central Catholic's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keke Harris, who scored four points along with five rebounds.

Cocoa Beach has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cocoa Beach is on the road again on Monday and play against Melbourne at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, they will challenge Pineapple Cove Classical Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Pineapple Cove Classical Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
