Baseball Recap: Garden Valley Wolverines vs. Idaho City Wildcats
Garden Valley extended their losing streak to seven on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 2-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Idaho City Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, with their most recent defeat being a 10-5 loss last Monday.
As for Idaho City, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.
For Idaho City's part, Trey Martiny and Gabe Goodman did most of the damage at the plate: Martiny got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs, while Goodman went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Goodman has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Goodman, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
