Mater Dei had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Hillsboro Hiltoppers on Thursday as they made off with a 9-1 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Adrian Rendon tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brady Salzman was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Strader, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Hillsboro, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Dei will square off against Althoff Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hillsboro, they will challenge Vandalia at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
