Football Game Preview: Gladewater Bears vs. White Oak Roughnecks

Gladewater has gone a perfect 7-0 against White Oak recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bears will host the Roughnecks at 7:00 p.m. Gladewater will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Friday, Gladewater strolled past Atlanta with points to spare, taking the game 34-18. The Bears pushed the score to 34-10 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rabbits cut but never quite recovered from.

Carsin Cooper had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 162 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Those 162 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, White Oak fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Tatum on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 50-49 to the Eagles. The Roughnecks haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Gladewater will need to focus on slowing down Jaxsen Ludlow, one of several White Oak players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 290 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 115 yards on only 13 carries. Ludlow has become a key player for White Oak: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least 100 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise. Kenny Poul was another key back, rushing for 57 yards and three scores.

Special teams played a big role in the game for White Oak, adding 19 points to the final score. Brady Prazak delivered a perfect 3-3 game. One of the most memorable scores? An impressive kickoff return for a touchdown from Ludlow.

White Oak's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Gladewater, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.

Everything came up roses for Gladewater against White Oak in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 54-27 victory. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Roughnecks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
