Baseball Recap: Omaha Central Wins Going Away Against Buena Vista

Omaha Central got themselves on the board against Buena Vista on Thursday, but Buena Vista never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Bison. Considering the Eagles have won nine games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Grant Hamill tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Luke Neujahr and Oscar Yuhas-Vining did most of the damage at the plate: Neujahr went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Yuhas-Vining went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Yuhas-Vining has become a key player for Omaha Central: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Dougherty, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

Omaha Central's win bumped their record up to 14-15. As for Buena Vista, they dropped their record down to 4-22 with the loss, which was their 23rd straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Omaha Central will challenge Bellevue West at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunderbirds' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Buena Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
