Softball Recap: Benilde-St. Margaret's Takes a Loss

Benilde-St. Margaret was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Academy of Holy Angels Stars. The Red Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Stars from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Mallory Held was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Riley was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Benilde-St. Margaret's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Academy of Holy Angels, the win keeps they at an undefeated 4-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benilde-St. Margaret's will square off against Chanhassen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Academy of Holy Angels, they will head out to take on Richfield at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
