Baseball Game Preview: North Pontotoc Vikings vs. Bruce Trojans

The North Pontotoc Vikings will square off against the Bruce Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. North Pontotoc will be strutting in after a victory while Bruce will be coming in after a defeat.

Bruce will be up against a hot North Pontotoc team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Myrtle 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since March 25th.

Meanwhile, Bruce came up short against Eupora on Saturday and fell 9-5.

Cane Necaise was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.

North Pontotoc pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Bruce, their loss dropped their record down to 7-14.

Everything went North Pontotoc's way against Bruce in their previous meeting back in March, as North Pontotoc made off with a 15-2 win. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
