Softball Game Preview: Providence Day Chargers vs. Charlotte Christian Knights

Providence Day is 2-8 against Charlotte Christian since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Providence Day's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Charlotte Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Providence Day is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 15 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against Cannon on Tuesday. They fell 6-1 to the Cougars. The contest marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Charlotte Christian never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Charlotte Country Day School on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Buccaneers with a sharp 15-2 win. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Providence Day's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Charlotte Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Providence Day beat Charlotte Christian 4-1 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
