Softball Recap: Evergreen Drops Season-High Score on Prairie

Evergreen extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-8 in the process. They lost 14-4 to the Prairie Falcons. On the bright side, the four- run effort marked the Plainsmen's highest-scoring contest to date.

As for Prairie, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games.

For Prairie's part, Payton Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave Miller a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carlie Palmer, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Payton Blunt, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and four RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Evergreen will welcome Kelso at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Plainsmen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hilanders have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Prairie, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Mountain View at 4:30 p.m.
