Softball Recap: East Hartford Takes a Loss

East Hartford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 4-1 to the Tolland Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 11-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.

Izzy Brito spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, East Hartford saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anira Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

East Hartford's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Tolland, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. East Hartford is set to face off against their familiar foe East Catholic at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Tolland will take on rival Enfield at 3:45 p.m. on Monday.
