Soccer Game Preview: Geneva vs. Naperville Central

The Geneva Vikings will venture away from home to square off against the Naperville Central Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Geneva's tournament run continued when they took on Minooka on Thursday. The Vikings fell just short of the Indians by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Geneva can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Minooka are ranked 23rd).

Meanwhile, Naperville Central had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.7 goals) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They blew past the Indians 4-0. Naperville Central's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four matches.

Geneva now has a losing record of 4-5-3. As for Naperville Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1-1.

Geneva came up short against Naperville Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, falling 3-1. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
