Basketball Preview: Maynard Tigers vs. Tyngsborough Tigers
Maynard has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the Tyngsborough Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th. Maynard knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully the Tigers like a good challenge.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Maynard ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They managed a 57-53 victory over Hopedale.
Meanwhile, Tyngsborough didn't have too much trouble with the Panthers on the road on Friday as they won 55-38. Given Tyngsborough's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Panthers are ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Maynard is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Tyngsborough, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6.
Maynard couldn't quite finish off the Tigers when the teams last played back in January and fell 66-63. Can Maynard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
