Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Carter Rutherford and Web Buchanan Lead Good Hope to Victory + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Good Hope had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Cherokee County Warriors 28-26. For the Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 35-0 victory the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2023.

A big part of Good Hope's win came down to the chemistry between Web Buchanan and his top target Carter Rutherford. Buchanan threw for 100 yards and two touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes while Rutherford picked up 120 receiving yards and one score. Those passing yards marked the first that Buchanan has passed for this season.

Despite the loss, Cherokee County still got an impressive performance from Keyshawn Woods, who rushed for 270 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Woods' rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his tenth straight game with at least 120 rushing yards.

Good Hope's record now sits at 9-2. As for Cherokee County, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.

Coming up, Good Hope will take on West Morgan at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Raiders 12, the Rebels 10.6) so any points scored will be well earned. Cherokee County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
