Soccer Game Preview: Gonzales vs. Soledad

The Gonzales Spartans will face off against the Soledad Aztecs at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Gonzales is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.5 goals per game this season.

Gonzales took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Pacific Collegiate onto the board and left with a 3-0 win. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but the Spartans were the better team in the second half.

They hit Pacific Collegiate with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jorge Uribe, Emmanuel Valdez, and Edgar Santiago.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Soledad). They came out on top against Monte Vista Christian by a score of 3-1 on Thursday.

Gonzales pushed their record up to 8-3-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four matches. As for Soledad, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5-1.
