One of the NFL's most storied franchises hasn't had to look far for many of its top draft picks.

It sort of figured. The state the Dallas Cowboys have drafted from most — at least native sons — is Texas.
Of the 78 players the Cowboys have picked since 2006, 13 played high school football in Texas, 10 played in California and seven each in Florida and Ohio.
Of their 10 first-round picks in that span, only wide receiver Dez Bryant is from Texas. The 24th pick in the 2010 Draft played at Lufkin (Texas).
Other draft facts for the Cowboys:
* Of the 10 first-round picks, nine different states were represented, with Indiana claiming two of the selections. Those two were linebacker Anthony Spencer of Bishop Luers (Fort Wayne) and guard Zack Martin of Bishop Chatard (Indianapolis). Spencer was the 26th pick in 2007 and Marin the 16th selection in 2014.
* The Cowboys have had only two picks in the top 10: cornerback Morris Claiborne of Fair Park (Shreveport, La.) and offensive tackle Tyron Smith of Rancho Verde (Moreno Valley, Calif.). Claiborne was the No. 6 pick in 2012 and Smith was the No. 9 selection in 2011.
