Volleyball Recap: Cabrillo Takes a Loss

After flying high against San Luis Obispo Classical Academy on Tuesday, Cabrillo came back down to earth. The Conquistadores took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Joseph Knights on Thursday. If the Conquistadores were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Knights when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Cabrillo started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23.

Leila Kiesling paced Cabrillo's offense, picking up 13 kills. Kiesling got some help from Jazlene Brady and her 20 assists. Kaiya Brown controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Cabrillo's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for St. Joseph, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Coming up, Cabrillo is taking a road trip to square off against Valley Christian Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for St. Joseph, they will take on Nipomo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Knights their first taste of in-conference action this season.
