Basketball Recap: Holy Cross Comes Up Short

Holy Cross was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 51-41 to the Mary Louis Academy Hilltoppers. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hilltoppers from their previous meeting back in February.

Despite the loss, Holy Cross still got an impressive performance from Mona Okorie, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Okorie is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 30 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jeeanna Pierantoni, who posted 19 points.

Even though they lost, Holy Cross smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 31 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Holy Cross' loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Holy Cross will take on Monsignor McClancy in a holiday battle at at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mary Louis Academy, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Tennessee at 10:30 a.m. on December 29th.
