Basketball Game Preview: Cesar Chavez Champions vs. Camelback Spartans

The Cesar Chavez Champions will head out to take on the Camelback Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cesar Chavez has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 256 points over their last three matchups.

Last Tuesday, everything came up roses for Cesar Chavez against Browne as the squad secured an 86-16 win. The Champions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 24 points or more this season.

Cesar Chavez got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lakeisha Robinson out in front who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 boards. What's more, Robinson also racked up seven steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Victoria Ballard was another key player, going 10 of 13 on her way to 20 points and six steals.

Cesar Chavez smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 9 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.2.

Meanwhile, Camelback took a blow against South Mountain on Friday, falling 54-9. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Jaguars are ranked 132nd).

Cesar Chavez has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 48.9 points. As for Camelback, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-14.

Everything went Cesar Chavez's way against Camelback when the teams last played back in January of 2016, as Cesar Chavez made off with a 63-42 win. Does Cesar Chavez have another victory up their sleeve, or will Camelback turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
