Volleyball Recap: Challenger Firebirds vs. Pinnacle Classical Academy Eagles
Challenger was the 3-2 winner over Pinnacle Classical Academy when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Firebirds fell 3-1 to the Eagles on Tuesday.
Challenger was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Pinnacle Classical Academy work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 32-30, 22-25, 25-23, 25-17.
Despite the loss, Challenger still got an impressive performance from Kate Hightower, who had 16 digs and three aces.
Pinnacle Classical Academy was led to victory by Lily Brown and Iymani Coleman. Brown had 13 digs and five aces, while Coleman had five blocks and one assist. Brown is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last six games she's played dating back to last season.
Challenger's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pinnacle Classical Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Coincidentally, Challenger and Pinnacle Classical Academy will both be playing Lake Lure Classical Academy the next time they take the court. The Firebirds will head out to face the Raptors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
