Preview: Iowa Colony Pioneers vs. La Marque Cougars
Iowa Colony is 3-0 against La Marque since January of 2023, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Iowa Colony Pioneers will look to defend their home court against the La Marque Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Iowa Colony sitting on three straight victories and La Marque on five.
Iowa Colony posted their biggest victory since December 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 83-36 win over Bay City on the road. Given Iowa Colony's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 457th, while Bay City is ranked 1178th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Daylen Dalcour was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was BJ Gill, who scored 13 points along with eight assists and four steals.
Even though La Marque has not done well against Stafford recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. La Marque snuck past Stafford with a 36-30 win.
Iowa Colony has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-14 record this season. As for La Marque, their victory bumped their record up to 14-15.
Iowa Colony beat La Marque 56-47 in their previous matchup on January 2nd. Will Iowa Colony repeat their success, or does La Marque have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
