Chatham Central gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Jordan-Matthews Jets 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Jets: they've now won three in a row.

Chatham Central wouldn't go down easily and took Jordan-Matthews into a fifth set where they got it done with a nine-point win. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 15-6.

Addison Goldston paced Chatham Central's offense, picking up 14 kills. Goldston got some help from Abby Cunnup and her 25 assists. Sydney Sellers controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Despite the defeat, Jordan-Matthews had strong showings from Lilli Hicks, who had 18 digs and two aces, and Emily Dekaney, who had 11 kills, 11 digs, and three blocks.

Jordan-Matthews' loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Chatham Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Eastern Randolph on the 14th. As for Jordan-Matthews, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Wheatmore on the 18th.
