Softball Recap: Fort Cherry Comes Up Short

Fort Cherry extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 19-0 to the Seton LaSalle Rebels. If the Rangers were looking for revenge after losing 6-4 to the Rebels when the teams met back in April of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Seton LaSalle, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

For Seton LaSalle's part, Gianna Ferrieri was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ferrieri has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Seton LaSalle got a big performance out of Olivia Kelly, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave Kelly a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kara Collins, who went 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

While Fort Cherry had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
