Football Preview: Antelope Titans vs. McClatchy Lions

The Antelope Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the McClatchy Lions at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Antelope is looking for their season's first victory.

Antelope is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They had to suffer through a 55-22 loss at the hands of Placer. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 586th, while the Hillmen are ranked 108th).

Richie Graham put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown, and also caught a touchdown. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Deante Gray Jr, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, McClatchy came into Friday's match having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Kennedy 38-0 on the road on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lions needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Jeremiah Giles was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rushing yards. Sammy Hernandez-Hartman was another key player, gaining 80 total yards and two touchdowns.

McClatchy's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Aaron "Kiko" Brambilia. Austin Aten was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Antelope's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for McClatchy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
