Baseball Game Preview: West Carroll War Eagles vs. Bradford Red Devils

For the second straight game, West Carroll will face off against Bradford. The War Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Carroll has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between West Carroll and Bradford, and Bradford kept the tradition alive. The War Eagles came up short against the Red Devils on Tuesday, falling 18-5. The defeat continues a trend for the War Eagles in their meetings with the Red Devils: they've now lost four in a row.

For Bradford's part, Dylan Brauer was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Brauer has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jax Richardson was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Austyn Birmingham was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Bradford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Bradford has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for West Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
