Football Recap: Scripps Ranch Triumphs

Scripps Ranch was handed a 22-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 28-27 photo finish over the La Jolla Country Day Torreys. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Falcons also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

Several Torreys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jett Astephen, who threw for 247 yards and three TDs while completing 72.2% of his passes. Astephen also put up seven rushing yards, which were his first of the season. Keenan Ward helped out on the ground, rushing for 82 yards and a rushing touchdown.

The win got Scripps Ranch back to even at 2-2. As for La Jolla Country Day, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Scripps Ranch will host Mira Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Falcons' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for La Jolla Country Day, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Army-Navy at 7:00 p.m. The Warriors' defense has only allowed 10.5 points per game this season, so the Torreys' offense will have their work cut out for them.
