Soccer Game Preview: Fredericksburg vs. Canyon Lake

The Fredericksburg Billies will square off against Canyon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fredericksburg knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Canyon Lake likes a good challenge.

Canyon Lake better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Fredericksburg really get things going. Fredericksburg blew past Brownwood 5-2 on Friday. While the Billies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-13-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Canyon Lake had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Cougars out 2-1.

Fredericksburg is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-1-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those five matchups. As for Canyon Lake, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.

Fredericksburg might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Canyon Lake when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Fredericksburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
