Baseball Game Preview: Dublin Lions vs. Early Longhorns

Dublin is 1-9 against Early since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lions will face off against the Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. Dublin will be strutting in after a victory while Early will be coming in after a defeat.

Dublin took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Eastland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Mavericks 12-10. The win was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Dublin got a big performance out of Dalton Bullard, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Bullard has posted since back in March. Paxton Loper also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Bullard wasn't the only one making solid contact: Dublin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Early was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Tolar, falling 9-3.

Early's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Dublin, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 6-11.

Dublin couldn't quite get it done against Early in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
