Basketball Recap: St. Albans Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Charleston Catholic

On Tuesday, St. Albans faced Charleston Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The St. Albans Red Dragons walked away with a 48-38 win over the Charleston Catholic Irish. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red Dragons also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

St. Albans' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaycee Elzy led the charge by putting up 17 points. What's more, Elzy also posted a 57% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Samyah Riggan, who posted 11 points and eight rebounds.

Despite the loss, Charleston Catholic still got an impressive performance from Ilyauna Evans, who scored nine points and eight boards. Mary Rushworth was another key player, earning seven points and five rebounds.
