Volleyball Recap: Union Comes Up Short

After flying high against Juan Diego Catholic on Wednesday, Union came back down to earth. The Cougars fell just short of the San Juan Broncos by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Broncos apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.

Union took San Juan into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 16-25, 15-10.

Averie Gilson was a one-woman wrecking crew For San Juan. as she had 20 digs and three aces. Those 20 digs gave Gilson a new career-high.

Union's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for San Juan, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Union didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Grantsville on the 12th. As for San Juan, they will be taking part in a tournament against North Sanpete at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
