The Maiden Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Pine Lake Prep Pride at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Maiden took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Bunker Hill 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted against the Bears since March 7, 2017.
Raegan Rembert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Maiden saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Bryan, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Sydney Sigmon also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Pine Lake Prep put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Christ the King as Pine Lake Prep made off with a 17-2 win. 17 seems to be a good number for the Pride as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Emma Rette made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Rette was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Pine Lake Prep got a massive performance out of Ava Cornacchione, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Kristen Armstrong was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Pine Lake Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most one strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Pine Lake Prep's record is now 4-0. As for Maiden, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-4.
