Baseball Recap: El Dorado Comes Up Short

Monticello hit El Dorado with a five-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats fell just short of the Billies by a score of 7-6. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Billies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

El Dorado has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.1 runs over those games. As for Monticello, the win got them back to even at 13-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. El Dorado will host Hot Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.44 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Monticello, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crossett at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Billies surely won't give up without a fight.
