Basketball Recap: Bethune Victorious

If Miami-Yoder wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Bethune, they should've done a better job of containing Jamie Strobel. The Bethune Bobcats walked away with a 40-30 win over the Miami-Yoder Buffaloes on Saturday thanks in part to Strobel, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. She is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games.

The team also got some help courtesy of Madilyn Powell, who posted six points in addition to six assists and four steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in assists.

When it comes to explaining why Miami-Yoder lost, don't look at Kylie McKnight. Despite the final result, she had 14 points along with six steals and five boards. McKnight continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Bethune now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Miami-Yoder, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bethune will host Triplains/Brewster at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Miami-Yoder, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Elbert at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Miami-Yoder has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
