Basketball Recap: Amanda O'brien's Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Milford over West Morris Mendham

On Friday, the West Milford Highlanders were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 57-52 to the West Morris Mendham Minutemen. The loss was the Highlanders' first of the season.

Several Highlanders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amanda O'Brien, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Those 16 points gave O'Brien a new career-high. Laurel Space was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Milford fell to 2-1. As for West Morris Mendham, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

West Milford and Pequannock will face off at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for West Morris Mendham, they will host Immaculata at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
