Volleyball Recap: USC-MAE Takes a Loss

USC-MAE was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Downtown Magnets Suns. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Suns this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 8th.

USC-MAE was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-16, 25-9.

Downtown Magnets' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Scarleth Orellana, who had 28 assists and six aces. Those 28 assists gave Orellana a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dalin Ea, who had seven digs, five kills, and five aces.

USC-MAE's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Downtown Magnets, with the victory, they broke their three-match losing streak and moved their record to 5-8-1.

Coincidentally, USC-MAE and Downtown Magnets will both be playing Animo Bunche the next time they take the court. The Trojans will head out to face the Stallions at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Suns will host them at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.
