Basketball Recap: Falls City Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kain Jurgajtis and Austin Bordovsky

Falls City fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Long Creek on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Long Creek Dragons by a score of 64-61. That's two games in a row now that the Beavers have lost by exactly three points.

Austin Bordovsky and Kain Jurgajtis certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Bordovsky dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten boards, while Jurgajtis dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Jurgajtis is now averaging an impressive 9 boards per game. Dale Shaffer was another key player, putting up six points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Falls City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Falls City now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Long Creek, they moved to 2-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Falls City didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 54-50 win against Bloomington on the 12th. As for Long Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 79-24 defeat against Young Men's Leadership Academy on the 17th.
