Basketball Recap: Addie Maiben's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Maconaquah over Delta

Maconaquah and Delta squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Maconaquah had to settle for second. They fell to the Delta Eagles 57-53.

Maconaquah's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Addie Maiben, who posted 14 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Maiben a new career-high in steals. Delaney Betzner was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Jillian Barr continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Delta, dropping a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which Barr has scored at least a third of Delta's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Barnes, who had 12 points and six assists.

Maconaquah's loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Delta, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.

Maconaquah does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Delta, they will take on Norwell at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Norwell will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Delta surely won't give up without a fight.
