Preview: St. Anne Cardinals vs. Clifton Central Comets
Two dominant guards in Jordan Davis and Blake Chandler are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The St. Anne Cardinals's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Clifton Central Comets at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Wednesday, St. Anne came up short against Westmont and fell 52-43.
Meanwhile, Clifton Central fought the good fight in their overtime game against Herscher on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Tigers 71-66. Clifton Central's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Clifton Central saw an underclassman step up: Chandler scored 30 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chandler has scored all season. Aidan Podowicz was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and two steals.
St. Anne's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-12. As for Clifton Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.
St. Anne came out on top in a nail-biter against Clifton Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, sneaking past 48-46. Will St. Anne repeat their success, or does Clifton Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
