Baseball Recap: Ponte Vedra's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

Ponte Vedra lost a heartbreaker to Oakleaf when they met back in February of 2022, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Ponte Vedra fell just short of Oakleaf by a score of 6-4. The Sharks' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Ponte Vedra got a good showing from CJ McKenzie, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave McKenzie a new career-low in walks (zero).

At the plate, Grady Hartman and Cole Rambler stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hartman scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Rambler went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Those two doubles gave Rambler a new career-high.

Ponte Vedra's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Oakleaf, they pushed their record up to 10-10 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ponte Vedra will challenge Menendez at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oakleaf, they will face off against Newberry at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
