Preview: Swink Lions vs. Holly Wildcats
Swink is 0-9 against Holly since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Swink Lions are on the road again and play against the Holly Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on December 5th. Hopefully Swink focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Saturday.
Last Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Swink beat Swallows Charter Academy 39-35. The victory was just what Swink needed coming off of a 65-21 defeat in their prior contest.
Swink relied on the efforts of Nate Cabrera, who scored 14 points along with 3 steals, and Hunter Bauserman, who scored 19 points. The matchup was Bauserman's fourth in a row with at least ten points.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact Holly proved on Saturday. They came out on top against Sierra Grande by a score of 63-54. The win made it back-to-back wins for Holly.
Holly got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Andre Salgado out in front who scored 23 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Truman King was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals.
The losses dropped Swink to 3-1 and Swallows Charter Academy to 0-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Swink have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Holly struggles in that department as they've been even better at 32.5 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
