Basketball Game Preview: Zuni Thunderbirds vs. Newcomb Skyhawks

The Zuni Thunderbirds will venture away from home to challenge the Newcomb Skyhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Zuni will be strutting in after a win while Newcomb will be coming in after a loss.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Zuni challenged Thoreau on Saturday. Zuni walked away with a 58-50 victory over Thoreau. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Thunderbirds.

Meanwhile, Newcomb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 49-38 to Crownpoint.

Newcomb's loss dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Zuni, their win bumped their record up to 13-11.

Everything came up roses for Zuni against Newcomb in their previous meeting back in January, as the squad secured a 63-34 victory. In that matchup, Zuni amassed a halftime lead of 40-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
